How to delete your Udemy account permanently

How do I delete my Udemy account?
From your profile, choose Close Account and confirm with your password or an emailed code. You lose access to every course you enrolled in — but you can refund anything bought in the last 30 days first, and revoke the request within 14 days.
After you confirm
Reversible: 14 days, by notifying Udemy. Fully gone: 14 days.

Lifetime access means the account’s lifetime, not yours. Udemy states that closing your account deletes it and ends access to every course you enrolled in, purchased ones included. Someone with years of purchases can be throwing away a great deal of money, and there is no transfer to another account.
Refund what you can before you close. Udemy says a course bought within the past 30 days can be refunded — but request it first. Once the account is gone, so is the route to asking.
Do this instead, probably
- Unsubscribe from the emails — that is the actual complaint most of the time, and it is a settings toggle.
- Remove your payment method to stop accidental purchases while keeping the library.
- Just stop logging in. Udemy does not delete dormant accounts, so your courses wait.
If you are certain
- Signed in, move your cursor to your avatar at the top right.
- Click your initials in the dropdown to open your Profile page.
- Click Close Account on the left, then Close Account on the right.
- Enter the 6-digit code emailed to you, or your password — which one depends on your account settings.
- Click Close Account again.
Udemy emails a confirmation from no-reply@e.udemymail.com with instructions for keeping the account open if you change your mind.
You have 14 days to change your mind. Udemy will reverse a close request if you notify their team within 14 days of submitting it. After the request completes and the account is deleted and anonymised, it cannot be reinstated.
What Udemy keeps
Your account data and platform usage data are deleted or anonymised. Udemy says it must retain some records regardless — payment transactions and anything required for legal reasons — and deletes them once those purposes are served.
Instructors
Closing an instructor account closes the whole Udemy account, student purchases included. What you must do first depends on your courses:
- Draft courses, or published courses with no enrolled students: unpublish and delete each one yourself, then close the account normally.
- Any course that has ever had an enrolled student: contact Udemy support for instructions. You cannot close it yourself.
- Courses you co-instruct: remove yourself from the course first. Without Manage permission, ask the original creator to remove you.
- Courses in the Udemy Business collection: email ubcontent@udemy.com. Under the Promotions Policy the course stays enrollable in the Udemy Business catalogue for up to 12 months.
- Money owed to you: you cannot close the account until Udemy sends the last scheduled payout in your revenue report.
Students who enrolled in your courses keep access to them after you close — that is Udemy's student lifetime access feature, and it applies whether or not you are still there.
Save what you can from courses you paid for
Course videos cannot be downloaded for keeps in any legitimate way, and that is the point of the platform — but the surrounding material often can, and it is the part with lasting value.
- Downloadable resources. Many courses attach slide decks, code samples, worksheets and cheat sheets. Those are files, and files you can keep.
- Your own notes. Notes you took inside the player go with the account, so copy them out into a document of your own.
- Certificates of completion. Download the PDFs. If you have ever listed one on a CV, the verification link stops resolving when the account goes.
- Q&A threads you found useful — screenshot the answers that actually solved something.
Course videos are not yours to keep, and tools that rip them are not a workaround this site will point you at. If the videos are the reason you are hesitating, that is the strongest argument for not closing the account at all — dormant costs nothing and the library waits.
Two clocks worth not confusing
Udemy runs two separate windows and mixing them up costs money:
- 30 days — the refund window for a course purchase. Request refunds before closing, because afterwards there is no account and no route to ask.
- 14 days — the window to reverse the account closure itself, by notifying Udemy's team.
So the order is: refund anything recent, download your resources and certificates, then close, then leave the confirmation email alone for a fortnight in case you change your mind.

Common questions
Do I lose my Udemy courses if I delete my account?
Yes. Closing the account ends access to every course you enrolled in, purchased ones included, with no transfer. Refund anything bought in the last 30 days before you close.
Can I undo closing my Udemy account?
Yes, within 14 days — notify Udemy’s team before the request completes. Once the account is deleted and anonymised it cannot be reinstated.
What happens to my students if I close my instructor account?
They keep access to courses they enrolled in. If any course has ever had an enrolled student, you must contact Udemy support rather than closing the account yourself.
