How do I delete my Epic Games account?
Request deletion from your account settings on epicgames.com. Epic sends a confirmation email with a security code, then holds the account for a waiting period before deleting it permanently.

Your Fortnite account goes with it. Skins, V-Bucks, Save the World progress, Battle Pass items and every free game you have ever claimed from the Epic Store. None of it transfers, and none of it is refunded.
Before you delete
- Spend your V-Bucks — they are forfeited.
- Check connected accounts — PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam links are broken.
- Note that free Epic Store games claimed over years are lost with the account.
Delete your account
- Sign in at epicgames.com/account. You land on the Account settings page.
- Scroll to the Delete account section and click the Delete account button.
- A warning pop-up appears. Click Delete account again.
- Enter the security code Epic emails to your account address, then click Continue.
- Choose a reason from the drop-down and click Continue.
- A "Your account has been deactivated" pop-up confirms it. You are logged out a few seconds later.
On an iPhone or iPad you can start the same process from inside the game — Delete Account sits in the in-game settings.
How to Cancel or Bypass the Epic Games Deletion Grace Period
You cannot bypass the wait. During the first 14 days, sign in at epicgames.com/account and click Reactivate account in the pop-up to cancel. After day 14, access ends and the request cannot be reversed.
Epic quotes two different numbers, and they are not the same thing:
- 14 days — the pending deletion window, the only period in which you can get the account back.
- 30 days — what Epic's deletion article gives as the point of permanent deletion.
Read together: you have 14 days to change your mind. After that the account enters the deletion process, you cannot sign in, and nothing you do brings it back — even though Epic does not consider the data fully deleted until day 30. Treat 14 as the deadline that matters.
Signing in is not enough to cancel. Go to epicgames.com/account, enter your email and password, and a pop-up appears — you must click Reactivate account in it. Logging in, seeing the account apparently working and closing the tab will not stop the deletion, the same trap Facebook sets. If that pop-up never appears, the deletion has already gone through.
Can You Reuse Your Email Address After Deleting Epic Games?
This one catches people who delete an account specifically to start a fresh one. Epic states that during the deletion window the email address and any external linked accounts are still considered in use. So for those 14 to 30 days you cannot register a new Epic account on the same email, and you cannot relink that PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or Steam account to anything else. If you are migrating rather than leaving, delete only once the new account is already set up on a different address.
Children's accounts and Cabined Accounts
A child who set up an account without a parent may have a Cabined Account, which has a reduced feature set and behaves differently. A parent deleting a child's account can use the steps above, or contact Epic's Player Support through their parent-specific contact form.
What Happens to Purchases, V-Bucks, and Balances?
Purchases are not refunded on deletion. If anything you bought is still within Epic's refund window, request those refunds first — once the account is gone there is nothing to refund and no account to refund it to.
