How to delete your Bumble account permanently

Cancel Premium or Boost before deleting. Billing runs through Apple or Google, not Bumble, so removing the account leaves the subscription charging. Cancel in your phone's subscription settings and confirm it has ended.

Snooze instead of delete

Bumble's pause is one of the better ones. Open the app, go to your profile tab, tap the settings cog top right, then Snooze, and choose 24 hours, 72 hours, a week, or indefinitely. Come back early by tapping deactivate Snooze Mode.

You keep your profile and can still chat with existing connections. Two catches worth knowing:

• Matches without active chats expire while you are snoozed.
• Snoozing does not pause your subscription. Billing continues regardless — manage that separately.

Delete your Bumble account

1. Open Bumble and tap your profile icon.
2. Tap the Settings gear.
3. Scroll down and tap Delete Account.
4. Choose Delete my account rather than snooze.
5. Select a reason and confirm.

You get 28 days to change your mind

Bumble holds a deleted account for 28 days. Restore it within that window and it comes back. After 28 days your information starts being removed and you can no longer regain access.

If you want the data gone rather than just the account closed, that is a separate Data Erasure Request to Bumble's team, which they say can take up to 30 days. Deleting the account starts a clock; the erasure request is what actually empties it.

What you lose

• All matches and chats after the 28 days — with no export. Save contact details first if any conversation matters.
• Your photos and prompts.
• Bumble BFF and Bizz profiles — these share the account, so deleting removes those too. Worth knowing if you use Bizz for networking.
• Unused Boosts and SuperSwipes — forfeited.

You can delete Date mode and keep the rest

Because BFF and Bizz live on the same account, deleting is an all-or-nothing move on three different things — which is the wrong tool if you only want to stop dating. Bumble lets you turn off Date mode on its own, which erases the dating profile and its conversations while leaving the friendship and networking profiles intact.

Turning off Date mode is not reversible either. It permanently deletes the matches and conversations made in that mode. It is narrower than deleting the account, not gentler — treat it with the same care.

So there are three distinct exits, and picking the wrong one costs you something you meant to keep:

• Snooze — a pause. Nothing is deleted, you keep chatting, billing continues.
• Turn off Date mode — dating profile and its chats erased, BFF and Bizz survive.
• Delete account — all three modes gone, 28 days to change your mind.

Where the subscription actually cancels

Bumble subscriptions can be bought through several routes, and the cancellation has to happen at whichever one you used — Bumble cannot cancel a subscription it does not bill. Deleting the account does not do it for you.

• Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
• Google Play: Play Store → profile → Payments and subscriptions.
• Bumble web, card or PayPal: in Bumble's own subscription settings, or on the PayPal side for a PayPal billing agreement.

If you cannot remember which route you used, the charge on your statement will tell you: Apple and Google bill under their own names, not Bumble's.

Deleting and erasing are two separate requests

Worth restating because the distinction is unusual and Bumble is clearer about it than most: deleting the account closes it, and a Data Erasure Request is what empties it. The 28-day window exists precisely because the data is still there.

If your reason for leaving is privacy rather than tidiness, deleting alone does not finish the job. Submit the erasure request as well, and expect it to take up to 30 days from the point Bumble accepts it.

Before you confirm

• Save contact details from conversations that matter — there is no export in any of the three modes.
• Cancel the subscription at the right store, and check next month's statement rather than trusting the confirmation screen.
• Decide about BFF and Bizz deliberately, rather than discovering afterwards that your networking profile went with your dating one.
• Spend or write off Boosts and SuperSwipes — they are not refunded.
