Privacy policy

The short version

This site has no accounts, no logins, no newsletter, no comment section and no contact form. We do not ask you for personal information and we have nothing to sell. The only data involved is what our hosting and advertising providers handle automatically, described below.

What stays on your own device

Our checklist tools save progress in your browser. Their code does not transmit that progress to us:

• The data rescue checklist remembers which items you have ticked.
• The account deletion planner stores selected platforms and checklist progress. Clear saved plan removes its data. There are no username or password fields, and the planner page loads no advertising script.

Clearing your browser data removes it. We cannot see it at any point.

Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information necessary to deliver the page — your IP address, browser type and the page requested — and may use it for security and abuse prevention. This is covered by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. We chose it specifically because of what it does not do:

• No cookies are set, and nothing is stored on your device.
• No fingerprinting. It does not build a profile or track you between sites.
• No cross-site tracking and no data sold or shared with advertisers.

It tells us that a page was viewed, roughly where in the world from, and which site linked to it. It cannot tell us who you are, and we could not identify an individual visitor from it if we wanted to. This is the least invasive way we know of to find out which guides are actually useful.

Advertising

This site currently shows no advertising. No ad network loads on any page, and no advertising cookies are set. Every guide here is served as plain HTML with no third-party requests.

If that changes, this section will be rewritten before the first ad appears, and visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom will be asked for consent before any advertising cookie is set.

Affiliate links

Some pages may contain affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you sign up for a service after following one. This never affects what we recommend, and pages carrying affiliate links say so.

Links to other sites

We link to official platform pages so you can complete a deletion. Once you follow one of those links you are on that company's site, subject to their privacy policy, not this one. We have no control over what they collect.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is generally nothing for us to retrieve, correct or erase. Requests relating to advertising data should go to the advertising provider, since they are the party that holds it.

• If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR): you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.
• If you are in California (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

Material changes to this policy will be reflected in the date at the top of this page.
