How to delete your Ubisoft account permanently

It reaches games you did not buy from Ubisoft. Ubisoft's own list of what you lose includes "any Ubisoft games owned on a different platform that your Ubisoft account is linked to". A title bought on Steam, Epic or console can become unplayable because it still needs a Ubisoft account to sign in — which is the part nobody expects.

What you lose

• Ubisoft games owned on Ubisoft Connect PC.
• Ubisoft games owned on any other linked platform.
• Your in-game progression.
• Any outstanding pre-orders bought from the Ubisoft Store.
• All Ubisoft online services, and all personal data on the account.

Young player accounts go too. Any child accounts associated with yours are closed along with it. If you set one up for a child, closing your own account takes theirs.

An active subscription blocks it — and cancelling is not enough

If you have Ubisoft+ or an R6 Membership you will be asked to cancel before the account can close. Ubisoft goes further in its subscription articles: you have to wait for the subscription to actually end before closing is possible. On an annual plan that can mean months, so start there rather than discovering it at the last step.

Close the account

1. Go to your Account information page.
2. Find the Close your Ubisoft account section.
3. Select Close account.

All linked accounts are unlinked and the account enters a 30-day suspension before it is permanently closed.

You can change your mind for 30 days

You can cancel the deletion at any point during the 30-day suspension and reactivate the account. After that, Ubisoft says it is unable to restore any associated data or recover the account.

Ubisoft also closes accounts that have been inactive for a long period, so "just stop logging in" is not a way to keep a library indefinitely.

Work out which games actually break

The linked-platform warning is the important part of this page, and it is worth turning into something you can check rather than worry about. The question for each Ubisoft title you own elsewhere is simple: does it ask you to sign in to Ubisoft Connect when it launches?

• If it does — and most modern Ubisoft titles do — closing the account breaks it, regardless of which store you bought it from or how much you paid.
• If it does not, typically an older or fully offline title, it will probably keep working, because nothing is being checked.

Launch each one and look, before you close anything. It takes ten minutes and it is the only way to know what the decision actually costs you.

Refunds are not available for this. A game bought on Steam that stops launching because you closed a Ubisoft account is not a Steam problem, and Steam's refund window will have closed years ago. You broke it deliberately, from the storefront's point of view, and nobody is obliged to make you whole.

Cloud saves and progression go first

In-game progression is on Ubisoft's list of what you lose, and for a live-service title that is the whole account — the seasons, the unlocks, the cosmetics you bought with real money. There is no export and no transfer to a new account.

If any of it matters, the honest options are limited: screenshot what you want to remember, and check whether the game supports local saves you could keep. For most Ubisoft titles the answer is that the progression is server-side and it dies with the account.

The subscription trap, in order

Because cancelling is not enough and the period has to actually run out, closing a Ubisoft account with an annual subscription is a months-long project rather than an afternoon. Plan it as one:

1. Cancel Ubisoft+ or the R6 Membership now, so it stops renewing.
2. Note the end date of the period you have already paid for.
3. Use the time, or do not — either way you cannot close until it passes.
4. Check the games you own elsewhere during the wait, per above.
5. Close the account once the subscription has genuinely ended.
6. Then stay away for 30 days while the suspension runs.
