How do I delete my Booking.com account?

Submit Booking.com’s data subject request form, choose Right to be forgotten, and verify through the email they send you. Wait until you have travelled — losing account access mid-trip costs you your booking confirmations.

Finish your trips first. Deleting while a stay is still ahead of you means losing the account you would manage it from — confirmations, messages to the property, and the cancellation controls all go with it. Cancelling the booking to clear the way can trigger the property's cancellation fee, so time this for after you travel, not before.

Before you delete

Delete your account

  1. Open Booking.com’s data subject request form, linked from their privacy notice.
  2. Enter your name and the email address on the account.
  3. Select Right to be forgotten to erase your personal data.
  4. Continue with verification — Booking.com emails that address to confirm it is you.

The same form also covers access, correction, marketing opt-outs and objecting to data sharing within Booking Holdings. Booking.com does not publish a turnaround time. Car hire or taxi bookings may be answered separately by Booking.com Transport Limited.

Hosts and property partners: a completely different process

If you list a property, closing your account means terminating a contract, not clicking delete.

  1. Log in to the extranet.
  2. Open Inbox, then Booking.com messages.
  3. Click See contact options.
  4. Choose topic Account and subtopic Terminate contract.
  5. Work through the questions, tick the confirmation boxes and confirm twice.

Once started, it cannot be stopped. You must also honour outstanding reservations and settle unpaid invoices first. The agreement ends within 14 days, or after pending reservations are honoured and invoices paid — whichever takes longer. If you cannot honour a reservation, you are liable for the cost of relocating those guests, so terminating mid-season is an expensive way to leave.

Booking.com for Business accounts are different again: only an Administrator can remove one, via Administration → Company details → Delete Company Account.

Reviews you have written

Booking.com does not publish what happens to a guest review when the account behind it is deleted, and we are not going to guess — the honest answer is that you cannot rely on deletion to retract one.

What Booking.com does state about reviews:

So if a specific review is the reason you are deleting, deal with it directly through Customer Service before you delete, while you still have an account to write in from.

Never delete with a trip still ahead of you

Your booking confirmation is how you prove you have a room. Delete the account before you travel and you lose the reservation dashboard, the ability to message the property, and the route to modify or cancel within the free-cancellation window. The booking may still exist on the hotel's system, but you have thrown away your copy of the evidence and your means of contact.

Wait until every stay is complete. If you cannot wait:

Genius level and what it costs to leave

Booking.com's loyalty tiers are earned through completed stays and are attached to the account. Deleting resets that to nothing, and a new account starts at the bottom regardless of how many trips you have taken.

For a frequent traveller that is a real discount being given up, so it is worth checking whether the lighter options solve the actual problem:

The privacy form handles all of those as separate requests. Erasure is the heaviest of them and the only one you cannot walk back, so it is worth trying the narrower lever first.

Common questions

Do my Booking.com reviews disappear when I delete my account?

Booking.com does not document this either way, so do not count on deletion removing a review. Contact Customer Service about the specific review before deleting your account.

How long do Booking.com reviews stay visible?

Booking.com says reviews may stop being shown once they are 36 months old, or if the accommodation changes ownership.
