How do I delete my SoundCloud account?

Cancel any subscription, then delete from Settings on the SoundCloud website. Your tracks, plays, comments and followers are permanently removed and cannot be restored.

Download your uploads first. For many artists SoundCloud holds mixes and demos that exist nowhere else. Deletion removes every track permanently — and takes your play counts, comments and follower base with it.

You must be signed in — there is no deleting an account you cannot access.

  1. Sign in on the SoundCloud website and open Account Settings.
  2. Click delete account at the bottom of the page.

On mobile: signed in, go to your account on the settings screen and tap delete account.

If you sign back in and see "frozen"

Deletion goes into a queue rather than happening instantly. If you later sign in and get an error saying your account is frozen, the deletion timed out and did not complete — the account is stuck rather than gone. You have to contact SoundCloud support to get a ticket raised and finish it properly.

Worth knowing, because a frozen account looks like a failed login rather than a failed deletion, and people assume the account was removed when it was not.

Deleting the account does not stop the subscription

Cancel the subscription separately, first. Removing your account does not automatically end SoundCloud Go, Go+, Next Pro or Artist Pro. Where you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, the billing relationship is with Apple or Google rather than SoundCloud, and SoundCloud cannot cancel it for you.

Delete the account without doing this and the charge simply continues against an account that no longer exists, which is a genuinely difficult thing to unpick afterwards because you cannot log in to see what is billing you.

Your username goes back into the pool

Once the account is deleted, the username and the soundcloud.com URL that goes with it become available for someone else to claim. Nothing reserves it for you.

For an artist this matters more than it first sounds. Every link to your profile in old press, playlists, bios and liner notes eventually points at whoever takes the name next, and that is not a situation you can fix later. If the name is part of your identity, consider keeping a dormant empty account rather than deleting — it costs nothing and holds the handle.

Moving tracks to another account

If you are consolidating accounts rather than leaving, you can re-upload tracks from the deleted account to the one you keep — but plays, comments and followers do not come with them. The audio survives; the engagement does not.

That trade is worth pricing honestly before you make it. A track with 40,000 plays and six years of comments becomes a track with zero plays and no comments, and there is no migration path, no support request and no partial restore. The number is not a vanity metric when it is the reason a playlist curator takes you seriously.

Reposts of your tracks by other users, and anything downloaded or re-uploaded elsewhere, is outside your control and remains.
